What a night!

We almost ended up in the ER tonight. That would have really been bad. We are already going on no sleep, between me being sick and the kids still sick and taking turns getting up at night the last few nights have been hell. Tonight while Zoe was putting toys away Brody found a beaded bracelet of hers. At first I didn't think anything of it, but then he broke it and the beads went everywhere. I thought I had picked them all up and trashed them, but apparently I failed & a few were hidden. Of course Brody finds one and then in an instant it disappears and he has this totally guilty look on his face and he is touching his nose. A few choice expletives were spoken, I grabbed him and sure enough the little green bead was shoved up his nostril. I send Fred upstairs to get a pair of tweezers and try to keep Brody still, praying he's not about to sniff it up into his brain. We lay him down and keep him still and as I am putting the tweezers near his tiny nostrils I start to panic, what if the little turd squirms and I'm the one responsible for inserting a bead and a tweezer into his brain. I then give them to Fred & can see the same thing going through his mind. We ditch the tweezers and I try to put my finger on his nose above where the bead is so that it cannot get lodged any further. By doing this I see that I pushed it down a bit and am able to work it out that way. While we are doing this, Zoe is standing about 5 feet away from us telling us "I'm going to stay right here, okay"...good idea kiddo! Surprisingly, he did not squirm or really even try to move or fight us, he knew he was in deep doodoo. So we were able to avoid the trip to the ER this time and hopefully he was scared enough to never shove anything up there again...yeah right.

After all the commotion over the bead Zoe starts taking her sweet old time cleaning up the toys and all we want to do is get these kids to bed so we can collapse. She then turns the tables on us telling us that this is "dick-less", meaning "ridiculous" that she has to clean up and that she is not having any patience with us. We tried our best to not let her see the laughter in our faces over the comments she just made trying to be sassy. Good lord, I can already see my Mom smiling while reading this and thinking it is payback time for the smart mouth I had as a kid....great.

Sick, Sick and Sick

Zoe, Brody and myself are all S-I-C-K, and it S-U-C-K-S! Fred had something when he came home from Delaware and it has hung around forever for him and now it seems to have spread to me & the kids. What a miserable bunch we are. I think it's just a cold, but a fierce one. Brody has been super clingy, congested and has a runny nose, waking at 5:30 every morning and today Zoe has a fever of 101.4 and says her throat hurts. I cringe everytime I swallow and have that totally spacey head, dizzy feeling. Poor Fred has been jumping through hoops taking care of all of us. I swear it seems like for the past few months one, some or all of us have been sick and the weekends have totally sucked. We need a bubble around our house.

Is there any other way to walk to get the mail?

No, of course not! Every girl needs a pair of cowboy boots (even in Hawaii), thank you Lala!

I survived!

It really is a great class and great program. We got there a half hour before class starts to help set up for the craft, snack, and anything else that needs to be done. I felt a little lost about not knowing where things belong, the routines, etc, but Ms. Maureen is wonderful! All the kids are so lovable too. They are a great group of kids and for the most part all get along really well together. Out of 13 kids only two of them are boys, and they are typical little boys, one loves to chase the girls outside while the other one is looking for roaches & centipedes (this is Hawaii!). My snack was not popular, applesauce and string cheese, I was asked by one of the boys why I didn't bring crackers. He left the kitchen and announced to the class, "Well, she didn't bring us crackers". He cracked me up! I guess I failed on that one! And I have to brag, my Zoe was awesome in class. She's not one of the quiet ones that sits back and watches, yet she doesn't need to be center stage either. She participates in all the songs and stories and seems to truly enjoy herself. She follows the directions and knows the class routine like she has been there for months, not just barely 4 weeks! I am so proud! Since I was the class mom that meant that it was Zoe's special day and she got to stand up & be the leader for putting the date and correct color on the calendar, be the days meteorologist, and the special helper, she loved it!

I am totally impressed with our school. It is small, it is a converted duplex house on property that use to be Navy housing (now privately owned), it was recently completely renovated, so it is basically brand new. Plus, it is a perk with Fred being a Dept of Defense employee because enrollment is only open to military families or to civilian DoD employees (it is run by Navy MWR). We may not have access to the commissary, but we get to send our kids to Iroquois Point Co-op Preschool!

My next class day is on February 28th, should be fun as well.

Working in Zoe's class tomorrow

Tomorrow is my first time being the helper in Zoe's preschool class. I am nervous and have no idea why. I have worked with both preschool and school-aged children in previous jobs, and not to mention my current full-time position with benefits raising our two little rugrats. So, why does the idea of three hours with 13 3-yr olds intimidate me? It's not like I'm even responsible for running the class, I am just the helper that makes sure we end the day with the same number of children that we started the day with. I've had the job where it was my responsibility to have a fun-filled, educational lesson plan, so this should just be a cake walk. Anyway, I'm sure tomorrow will be fine and I will just enjoy being there with Zoe.

Ice skating

Today, we went with the preschool to the coldest place on the island...The Ice Palace! Here is my friend Gwyndolynn taking Zoe around while I am off the ice with Brody.
